Swinging & the lifestyle in Auckland

New Zealand's lifestyle capital, by a wide margin. Auckland has the most members, the most venues and the most variety in the country — a lounge-bar icon, a venue-for-hire that hosts everything, and a young scene built for the under-35s.

With more than 31,000 active members nationally and three active venues, Auckland is the easiest place in Aotearoa to dip a toe in. Whether you want a polished wine-bar night that never has to go anywhere, a rotating calendar of parties and kink events, or a younger crowd closer to your own age, there's a door here with your name on it.

Why Auckland?

Auckland's scene is mature, diverse and well-established — dense enough to support specialist nights and rotating events, while staying small enough to feel intimate and safe. It has more than ten times the membership of the next-largest city, and it's home to the only wine-bar-plus-playroom format in the country. First-timers and visiting couples both have options, and the community is famously friendly to newcomers.

The clubs

CCK — the icon

Auckland's premier club, on Hobson Street in the CBD, and unique in NZ: the ground floor is a stylish, fully-licensed lounge bar — cocktails, conversation, zero pressure — with dedicated play areas upstairs that open up only when (and if) you're ready. MF couples and single women welcome; single men on dedicated nights only. Smart-casual-to-sexy dress code, no photography, condoms provided. CCK explicitly welcomes people who "just came for the bar" — which makes it the best first-timer entry point in the country. Couples typically $70–$85, single women $20–$30; Friday and Saturday plus themed events. Book ahead — Saturdays sell out.

The Chilli Club — the venue for hire

Out in New Lynn, the Chilli Club is unlike anything else in NZ: it doesn't run its own events — it hires out a 200sqm licensed space to organisers who run swinger parties, kink and BDSM nights, workshops and more. The result is a flexible, rotating calendar rather than a fixed club experience, so the vibe depends entirely on the event. Read the event description before you book. Fifteen years established, with a bar, play areas, showers and full kit on site.

The Millennials Club — the young scene

A community-driven group for adventurous couples and single women aged 18–35, running events (often Sunday afternoons) in chic, judgment-free venues across the city. If you're under 35 and new to all this, this is the gentlest way in — a peer-age crowd and events explicitly marketed as first-timer friendly. Younger and more party-leaning than CCK's lounge.

New to all this?

Sweet as — every Auckland venue is first-timer friendly. Want a low-key, no-pressure night out? Start at CCK and spend the whole evening downstairs in the bar if you like; that counts. Under 35? The Millennials Club is built for you. Curious about kink crossover? Watch The Chilli Club's calendar for fetish-friendly nights. Plenty of people spend their first night just socialising — there's never any pressure to play.

  • Go at your pace — you never have to play. A look around, a wine and a chat is a perfectly good night out.
  • Consent is the whole game — enthusiastic yes, or it's a no. Respect a no, every time.
  • Bring ID & book ahead — every club requires ID, and the popular nights sell out.
  • Discreet by design — your identity stays yours, on CheekyKiwis and at the door.
