Outside the three main metros, Hamilton is the one city with a genuinely significant lifestyle presence — the biggest non-metro community in New Zealand. The current scene

Hamilton's strengths are its size, its young University of Waikato crowd, and its proximity to Auckland. The online community is busy — chat, profiles, and regular "meet and greet" social nights in pubs with no play involved. Private house parties cover the play side: small (5–15 people), invite-only, and often more social than sexual. And plenty of locals simply treat Auckland as their club night, carpooling up for a Saturday — it's a very doable 1.5-hour drive.
